WHO AM I?
The longer version begins with my father, who was a magician, a charismatic purveyor of snake oil, generous beyond comprehension and movie-star handsome. When I arrived on the scene, he was a former military air traffic controller turned dynamic entrepreneur and real estate developer. He just passed away in April, 2013, and my life changed forever. Mum is an angel, a saint, a psychic, a former dancer and dance teacher, and now a longtime antique dealer. They were both Irish Catholic, and they met in grade school. Their love was epic, and I was so blessed to be their late-in-life lovechild, born during a waxing crescent moon. My first word was "light."
Now in my 5th decade of this life, I am a recovering lawyer and urbanite turned homesteader and spirit worker. I have a number of interdisciplinary degrees of questionable use, and as a grad student in gender and cultural studies, I studied a variety of dubious subcultures. Most recently I've been working as a fiber artist, spinning and dyeing yarn for Etsy and teaching for Craftsy, and my work has been in a number of gallery shows and I even received a little grant. But increasingly, my wild soul has been yearning, and Spirit has been calling.
I was raised as a Roman Catholic, but spent years searching for a more empowering and feminist belief system and religious experience. I've explored many indigenous and modern spiritualities such as Wicca, the Reclaiming tradition, Feri, traditional British witchcraft, Celtic Reconstructionism, Druidry, Shamanism, hoodoo or rootwork, and Tibetan Buddhism. I've gleaned wisdom from each, but found the most uplifting to be the ancient Faerie Faith. It can be difficult to find substantive information on the Faerie Faith when there is such a vibrant and gorgeous culture dedicated to honouring the Fae through art, cosplay and festival. But I have dug deep and learned from wisewomen, sages, scholars, and my own experience, how to work with the Fae to heal myself and the Earth.
I am a level 2 Reiki practitioner, an ordained minister, and am certified as a Home Apothecary, Space Cleanser, Holistic Life Coach, and Healing Faerie Practitioner. I love learning and practicing all sorts of eco-homesteading and primitive living skills. I live in an old farmhouse in rural North Carolina with my burly, rockin' soulmate husband and a family of dogs, donkeys, sheep, rabbits, chickens, a turkey, a goose, a guinea, and my familiar — an adopted stray grey tabby kitty — all of us held within sacred acres of tree and plant friends and spirits.
